I will praise the name of God with song, And shall magnify Him with thanksgiving.
So I will be honest-we have been in a long season in our household (hence no posts in a lonnnng time). The first year as a family of four has had ups and downs-but mainly just re prioritized our time as a family-which means priorities I had pre-Isaiah have shifted dramatically.
Today is a year from "the call", the call in which the agency found our 5 angels and brought them to Addis-an end to almost a 4 month pit after finding out the government would not move forward with the adoption-even though the courts said yes. But one year ago today-those who were lost-were found and hope was restored in our family. The next few weeks were met with wait and anticipation-and in the fashion of which I have become accustomed to-the call to "go" was a 48 hour turn around in which the envisioned "lifetime movie" goodbye's and weeks to plan and pack was met with a crash course shopping at Target for supplies to throw into the suitcase-only to sort out and purchase more during the layover in Amsterdam 24 hours later.
Isaiah has made some AMAZING gains-it is hard to believe the boy sitting on the couch with me was the boy who didn't talk on year ago for the 3 weeks he was in the transitional orphanage...only to find his voice (and his lungs) 2 days after we returned home (and one really long night at the guest house in Ethiopia). Kenny continues to be an wonderful role model and protector of his brother-he talks of the days went we were told No and his faith in all things possible is truly remarkable.
We will be celebrating Thanksgiving at home this year, Isaiah was asked by a teacher if he was having turkey-he responded "What is a turkey?" which prompted dad to buy a large deep fryer and walk him through the grocery stores searching for a turkey worthy of his First Thanksgiving.
Our next adventures will include introducing this little guy to the Christmas Season, and planning for a tearful celebration of his Gotcha day-which we are calling December 23rd-not the day in Ethiopia, but the day we stepped over the airplane in Minneapolis and into the arms of Dad and brother for the first time as a family of four.
