Additional Updates..the Long Wait

Kenny's Leap of Faith-June 2010

So "this week" has now turned into "next week". We received word that the lawyer working on our case has been advocating for MOWA to complete the paperwork we have been waiting for since the begining of March. The judge also agreed that she will wait one more week-but what happens after that is unknown.

Here is what we do know-out of the 11 families that traveled with us, 1 waits in the Embassy process and we are in company with 4 families that are in this ambigous time. Our social worker has given us information to process ahead of time if we get to the end of this journey and he is found "not available" for adoption-which we hope and believed will NOT be the case.

The Ethiopian government will again shut down mid August-September this year. As many of you remember we received the referral for our little boy last July right before the courts closed. IF our verdict is not decided before then-our 2nd trip could very well run into Winter 2012-about a year and half after referral.

As always we tend to be a family that defies the odds....time between referral and trip 2 to bring child home for most families is 6-8 months....we are on month 12.

During the last 4 months we have hit a range of emotions-anger, sadness, loss, grief, joy, excitement and disappointment. While on one of my longer runs this week-the chorus from Laura Story's song "Blessings" continues to run through my head:

Cause what if your blessings come though raindrops

What if your healing comes through tears

What if a thousand sleepless nights

Is what it takes to know You're near

What if the trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

He has a greater plan for our families homecoming-one in which I hope and pray is revealved this week. We are praying for a decision this week-as i am the control "type A" person knowing the upcoming timelines and what the court shutdown would mean in our case having peace to know that a "Gotcha Day" yet in 2011 would mean the world to our family, and to our son who is still in wonder about the mom and dad that came in late Feb-held him, played with him and let him put stickers all over Rob's head (if you haven't seen that picture yet-let me know and I can show you in person-it is precious).

This past week I had a chance to watch Kenny at swiming lessons -although the video below is sideways-the point is well taken.

Last June I blogged a picture of kenny jumping off the little diving board with a noodle (up above)-this year he is going off the high dive and swiming all by himself. Kenny's faith and trust in something guiding and protecting him is something I needed to be reminded of-knowing that in the end someone is watching over and protecting us even in the most difficult of times.
